There are many good books in the world of science fiction. Sometimes things happen while the team is traveling. Warhammer is a tabletop miniatures skirmish game.

It’s not overloaded with too much detail, but balances that with a nice pace-y plot that allows time for a descriptive narrative. I had my boyfriend to constantly pester with questions, which made things easier.

Are you enjoying the current spate of grimdark that fantasy is going through? I eisenhodn enjoying the various stories, but did it set my world on fire?

This book is actually three books – Xenos, Malleus and Hereticus – which make up a story arc of the Inquisitor and his staff. I’ll tell ya, had 12 year old me read this book he woulda lost his shit! Adn has also worked for various medium-sized to small publishers too, like Dark Horse Comics. It’s dark, it’s grim, it’s brutal, and there are space marines tearing aliens to pieces with their bare hands.


No other characters from the game appear, but disenhorn types of characters in the game — ArbitersRogue TradersDeathwatch Space Marinessavants, Mechanicum Magi and so on, are featured as key characters in the series.

It never seems to bog down unnecessarily, and when Eisenhorn, an Inquisitor in iesenhorn Holy Orders of the Emperor’s Inquisition, decides to stick around somewhere as he does on numerous occasionshe’s always busy doing something. All I know is that the races are awesome.

Does Eisenhorn, one Inquisitor himself?

At the same time, I am deeply grateful to the author for reminding every now and then how some of the characters relate to Eisenhorn, where his exploits have taken place earlier, what were their outcomes and how certain aspects of, let’s say, the second novel connect to adjoining events and some other aspects of the same, previous or following events within the 1st or the 3rd novels.

However stick them into another setting such as my apparently eternal Warhammer dive and I am all over them. Over the course of the novels, Eisenhorn loses almost all his friends and allies by not only using the tools of Chaos to fight and defeat Chaos, but by becoming blind to the danger of using them – seen in the change of his relationship to and ultimate dependence upon the daemonhost Cherubael.

Afterwards we have another short story, this one titled Backcloth for a Crown Additional. That’s not to suggest the path of the Radical is easy. Well, you probably have Warhammer to thank for that. I have gone back and read several times and am preparing to do it again, before I read Pariah by Dan Abnett.


In it was announced that there would be a video game adaptation of Xenospublished by Pixel Hero Games.
